In an exciting turn of events, the highly anticipated boxing match between Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman is set to take place on March 28. This bout, which was postponed last year, has finally secured a new date and venue. The fight will unfold at the renowned MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and boxing fans will be able to catch the action through pay-per-view via Amazon's Prime Video, alongside traditional cable and satellite services.
Originally slated for October 25, 2025, the match had to be called off just two weeks prior when Fundora sustained a hand injury during his training.
Sebastian Fundora, boasting a record of 23 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw (with 15 knockouts), hails from Coachella, California, and at 28 years old, he has already made a significant mark in the boxing world. He claimed both the WBO and vacant WBC titles at 154 pounds in March 2024 after a fierce and bloody split decision victory against Tim Tszyu. Since then, Fundora’s activity in the ring has been limited; he has only fought twice. Although he had aspirations of facing former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence, he didn’t defend his title until nearly a year later. Instead of battling Spence, Fundora faced Chordale Booker in March 2025, achieving a knockout victory in four rounds.
However, Fundora faced a setback when he was stripped of his WBO title for opting not to fight mandatory challenger Xander Zayas. Following this, he rematched Tszyu last July, demonstrating his dominance with a decisive seventh-round stoppage.
On the other side of the ring is Keith Thurman, a seasoned boxer with a record of 31 wins and just 1 loss (23 by knockout). At 37 years old, he comes from Florida and carries the distinction of being a former unified welterweight champion, having held the WBA title since 2016. His impressive resume includes notable wins against Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia, the latter being a unification fight that allowed him to add the WBC title to his accolades. Unfortunately for Thurman, he lost the WBC belt during a hiatus due to injury and subsequently lost the WBA title by split decision to Manny Pacquiao in 2019.
Since his defeat, Thurman has struggled with inactivity. After being sidelined for two and a half years, he made a comeback in February 2022, winning against Mario Barrios. It wasn’t until March 2025, another lengthy gap later, that he moved up to junior middleweight and scored an impressive win over Brock Jarvis in Australia.
Interestingly, Fundora owes his current title reign in part to Thurman; initially, Thurman was scheduled to face Tszyu in March 2024 but had to withdraw due to injury. Fundora was originally set to fight on the undercard and stepped in as a replacement, seizing his opportunity and ultimately claiming the title.
As this match approaches, anticipation builds among boxing fans. Will Fundora continue his upward trajectory, or will Thurman reclaim the spotlight? This is a clash you won't want to miss!
