The Aims Film and Animation Showcase is back, and it's a celebration of creativity and technical prowess! One of the most exciting aspects of the showcase is the opportunity for students to collaborate and connect with like-minded individuals. As animation student Marcus Everitt notes, "It’s a very fun, collaborative event. You get to meet new people that have the same interests and you get to kind of grow together in that way."
The showcase features approximately 50-60 submissions, each with a short runtime of around 5 minutes. The longest piece shown last year was an 8-minute film, which is a testament to the students' dedication and creativity. The Aims animation program, which launched in 2004, has been a cornerstone of the college's commitment to fostering artistic expression and technical proficiency.
This year, the community college is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the program with the film and animation showcase. As Professor Brian Dunning explains, "It’s a way to showcase student work from our two different departments: graphic design and rich media and communication media."
